How Appearing Confident will Make others Overlook your Shortcomings

You walk into the interview, or you walk onto the sports field, and you are clearly not the best out there. You don’t have the experience, or you don’t have the track record to make people think that you are going to do anything worthwhile. Its basically you against the world right now, and all you have is yourself to back you up. That and your belief that you are the best out there, regardless of what others might think. If you can appear confident, you can tend to sway people to thinking that just maybe you are the one for the job.

The funny thing about confidence is that it can overwhelm the senses. You might be a worker fresh out of college, but if you can come in with a smile, a good attitude, and the belief that you are going to do great things, you are going to be seen as a stronger worker. Your demeanor is going to reflect your attitude, and you are going to seem relaxed, and more prepared to take on the challenges of the working world.

When you have a can do attitude, you are going to just naturally attract people to that point of view as well. If you walk into a situation, and you just say that you can do it, and here is how, people are going to listen. The ideas you come up with might seem a little crazy, but when there are a lack of ideas, or a lack of faith to get the job done, any idea is a good idea.

When you have confidence, you are able to take the lead, and people rarely question the leader. So what that you are five feet tall, or that you have no experience running a marathon, if you think you can, you can. If you think you can, others will think that you can too, and this is the biggest secret to getting people to overlook your shortcomings.

When you are confident, or appear confident, you are overcoming your shortcomings even if you don’t realize it. Confidence is a funny thing that allows us to do things that we wouldn’t otherwise be able to do. It causes us to prepare a little more, to work a little harder, and to be a little more resilient to challenges to our goals. That causes us to do better, even if we don’t know how we did it.

Confidence is one of those things that allows people to overlook your shortcomings, and allows you to be a better person. People will see the confidence in you, and gain hope that you can be a leader going forward. Being confident will cause you to be that leader, and work harder to become the best person you can possibly be. Don’t look now, but a confident you might just translate into a better you in the long run.
