How often do you Find yourself Happy

I, personally, find myself happy every single day, for a large portion of the day. It’s not a chore and it’s a choice I make every day that’s also become a bit of a habit.  I’ll wake up, not always in the mornings, but at some time during the day and I’ll wake up knowing I’m alive.

Taking a breath and realizing that I am, in fact, alive. It’s another day, another time, and I’m here to experience it. Just knowing that, knowing that I’m alive now and can do things and know things and learn things, makes me happy to have the chance to go through life.

There’s the feeling that I’m alive that I wake up every day with, but there’s also the constant things in my life that a lot of people take for granted. Honestly, I’m happy to have clothes to wear, food to eat, and a home to live in. Those are some of the most basic things, but not everyone realizes how good it is to have those, because they’ve never gone without or thought about having to.

Indoor plumbing, heating, cooling, cell phones… Those aren’t necessities to live, but they are a luxury and we enjoy having them. I’m glad to have the things that I have.

Beyond the “I am alive today” feeling, there’s also the feeling and the knowledge that those around me, the people I care about are alive, too. That they’re alive and well and are able to feel how I do, even if they choose not to.

And that the ones that aren’t in my life right now, that have passed away, I can feel reassured that I know they’d be happy to see me happy, too, even if they’re not there to tell me that themselves.

Upon waking up every day, there’s also that sense of knowing I’m in control of what I’m doing, I choose what happens in my life in a lot of aspects. I can also choose how to take things.

Emotional blows or issues with a friend or co-worker, whatever it might be, I have the option to handle it in different ways. The situation isn’t always the best, but it makes me happy knowing that I’m able to do that.

Little events that happen throughout the day make me happy, too. Randomly finding something I had lost, receiving an email or IM from a friend I haven’t talked to in a while, seeing a family member, sometimes cleaning up the room to make it neater.

All are examples of things that make me happy in some way or another. They’re just little things in the day that help make it fun and interesting and worth my time.

It’s also really comforting to know that even if things go wrong during my day, I can bounce back from them, and walk through the problem until it’s resolved. I may feel a little bit unwell during the day because of some situation, but I’m confident that I can work through it where it’s no longer a problem and where I won’t have to worry about it as much.

There are tons of things in my day that make me happy. They don’t have to be anything major, but it makes me happy to see the little and the big things that are going well, or at least have the potential to go well or get better.

Simply being alive makes me happy, where I’m still breathing and able to do things and know things and feel things. Those are all good feelings to me, and I find myself happy very often because of those things.
