Homemade Fake Blood Recipes

Fake blood can be a great accessory for a Halloween party or even you actual Halloween costume. Add some flare to your Halloween costume by putting fake blood on your clothes. Scare your party goers or trick-or-treaters by splattering fake blood around and outside your home. Making fake blood for Halloween is not a hard task. There are actually several different ways that you can make fake blood for the different uses that you want to use it for.

Here are some great ways to make fake blood that appears real.

1. Fake blood made with corn syrup and corn starch

Ingredients:
1/2 cup corn syrup
10 drops red food coloring
2drops blue food coloring
1 tbsp. corn starch
cold water

Directions:
Mix the half of the corn starch with the half of the corn syrup until you get a cement like mixture. Then, slowly add the rest of the corn syrup, mixing as you go to avoid getting lumps. Mix in approximately 1/4 cup cold water. Stir in the red and blue food coloring (you can adjust the color depending on the desired color that you want). Cover up the mixture and put it in the microwave for 2 minutes or until it just boils. Take it out of the microwave and stir and let it cool. Place the fake blood in squeeze bottles if you are going to apply to something or in a bucket for large spaces.

2. Fake blood made with peanut butter

Ingredients:
1 cup peanut butter
1 quart corn syrup
1/2 cup liquid soap
20 drops red food coloring
12 drops blue food coloring

Directions:
Mix the peanut butter with the corn syrup to make a runny mixture. Add the food coloring along with the soap (should be non-sudsy) to the mixture. Stir in the rest of the corn syrup or until you reach the desired consistency. Refrigerate the fake blood if you are not going to use it right away.

3. Fake blood for your body (use for fake cuts and wounds)

Ingredients:
petroleum jelly
red food coloring
cocoa powder
disposable tissues

Directions:
Place a small amount of petroleum jelly on a plate and red food coloring (about 3 drops). Add enough cocoa powder to the petroleum jelly to make the fake blood appear dark as blood. Tear off a small piece of tissue and place it where you want the wound on your body. Put the petroleum jelly blood over the tissue. Try to form the tissue into a wound like shape or the desired shape that you want. Add more petroleum jelly if you need and add more cocoa to the outside of the wound to darken the edges. You can play around with this one until you perfect your wound.
