How to Accept Limitations

The key to learning how to accept your limitations is the ability to identify exactly what your limitations are. On the one hand you don’t want to be less than you can be in life. We all know that if you work hard and strive to become the best you can be then you may discover that you move forward and progress along way past what you previously thought your limitations on success were. At the same time there are things about yourself that you will never be able to alter, and trying hard to do so may leave you frustrated and feeling like a failure.

The things you can’t usually change about yourself are as follows:

# Physical features/skeletal structure

You can enhance your appearance by using clothing and cosmetics. You can learn how to move in a more attractive manner and you can even alter yourself a little with plastic surgery. However, generally speaking, most of your physical attributes are permanent to a greater degree.

# Your intelligence

Although you can work towards improving your intelligence, the result is still determined by your brains capacity to learn further and understand. If you weren’t born with Einsteins capabilities, you are not likely to reach them however hard you try.

# Personality

Your personality may naturally alter a little as you gain knowledge in life and encounter new experiences. You can make some dramatic changes with regards to confidence building and enhancing, or even reducing, your personality traits. At the same time though, if you are naturally an introvert you probably will never gain the personality of James Bond.

Accepting your limitations can save you from much emotional strain and disappointment. It can also leave you with more time and energy to work on enhancing parts of yourself which you can work on successfully in order to reach your full potential. So lets have a look at what you may be able to alter in your life which can pop up in the disguise of false limitations.

# Background

History has shown us that there are no limitations on changing your lifestyle and good fortune. It’s certainly easier said than done, however it is possible to come from a poor background full of misery and poverty, and rise up and grasp wealth and happiness.

# Skill

While it’s certainly true that some people seem to be naturally gifted and skilled in certain ways, it is always possible to stretch yourself a little further and carry on learning so that you improve. While you probably won’t become an operatic star if you are tone deaf, you can still learn how to breath properly in order to sing better than before and develop a better singing voice if you have tuition.

Many people stick with the level of learning they achieved at school. They may believe they have reached their full potential, but this isn’t likely, as you can continue to learn and hone your skills as you get older.

As you can see there are many possibilities for change and growth in life, but you also have some limitations. While you can’t change some things, you can gain more out of life by understanding what you can alter if you try, and accepting your limitations and being at peace with who you are.
