How Anger Affects Emotions

Anger consumes every emotion and blows a fuse in the brain. Rational thought is not possible when someone is angry. Anger causes road rage, accidents and in a lots of cases, death.

People who cannot control their anger or is always angry usually have an underlying emotional problem. They may be substance abusers of alcohol, medication or drugs. Something at home or at work is causing them much anxiety and they may also be depressed. An early history of physical or sexual abuse, may cause anger and irritability. Some people tend to show anger, intermingled with grief when there is death of a loved one.

Everyone has become angry at some time or other. Most of the time it doesn’t solve anything. Something is said that is taken out of context and the intended person becomes angry and cannot be pacified, no matter what explanation is given. Sometimes people are so angry over a supposed wrong that was done to them, that they lost all sense of reason and caution. This makes it difficult to communicate with them they are likely going to harm someone.

Anger prevents compromise. Some disputes are better settle this way with both parties lowering their expectations. Strikes by unionized workers can last a long time if employers and employees remain angry at each other and refuse to make concessions. Parents should not be always angry with their teenagers. They need to compromise sometimes with their children. Everything should not always be black and white.

Anger can choke creativity. If you become angry while being competitive in any endeavour, you are likely to lose. In a case like this you forget everything except what made you angry. Sometimes your opponent uses a strategy with the intention of making you angry. If you fall for the bait, you are out of the game.

Constant anger in family life is very destructive. The children in that family is most affected by this kind of home life. They don’t do well in school. They are likely to communicate in an aggressive manner. If conditions doesn’t change in the home they are likely to grow up angry adults with poor communicative skills.

Anger in small doses could be beneficial if it makes you change a harmful lifestyle. You stop being angry with other people for being discriminatory about your smoking or your weight and decide to take charge of your life and make positive changes. You can make anger work in your favor.
