Consequences of Insecurity

Why do we allow insecurity to run our lives? There are many reasons why we let insecurity run our lives, and it is human nature to be insecure. That might be the biggest reason why people are so insecure, and why they let it run their lives. Humans are very fragile creatures, and so we tend to believe it when people say we are not good enough.

Think about it, if someone has been telling you your whole life that you aren’t good enough, what else would you believe? We are socialized through the experiences that we have, and the people who raise us when we grow up. If someone says you are too weak, too scared, or too lazy, and you exhibit those behaviors for any length of time, you might think that it is true.

Humans want to please everyone all the time. We tend to want to not have people disliking us as it tends to be seen as a reflection on us. I don’t know how many stories I have heard of people who went to school, or took a job simply to make someone else happy. Even if it made us miserable, it makes your mom happy so you are going to do it. We don’t want people being disappointed at us.

As creatures we are insecure, and there is not a whole lot we can do about it. Couple that with the fact that life is very hard, and is prone to failure so easily, that it is hard to believe that things are going to get better for us. We work so hard to get to where we are, and it can all be lost in a single day. Whether you walk in on your girlfriend cheating, or you lose your job of a decade simply because you cost too much, everything can be lost so quickly.

That is why people let insecurity run their lives. You never really know what is going on at any given time. People are two-faced, and sometimes don’t feel like telling you the truth. That fear of the unknown, or not knowing the truth is what keeps us in such a state of insecurity. If you have any goals at all, you are going to set yourself up for some disappointments in life.

Life is tough, and it is not a straight road to the top either. You have to deal with emotions, fears, and the motives of others in our lives. We live for ourselves, while trying to make others happy. We can work for something our whole lives, and then you can lose it in the blink of an eye. Who wouldn’t be a little insecure?
