Big Bang or God

Big Bang, God, and consciousness

At this time in our evolutionary (yes I said it, evolutionary) history, we are unable to fathom how we came into existence. So we speculate and debate and argue. We base our opinion on whatever knowledge we have available to us at the moment. Scientists study space, and begin to understand physics, and how stars are born and die, how atoms are formed, and that our universe is expanding exponentially, thus coming up with the hypothesis of the big bang theory. Others look inward and form their opinions based on their inner lives, and personal experience. But history shows us that in most cases, when you have 2 seemingly opposite sides to a story, each side has validity, each side is typically missing part of the whole picture, and eventually the truth comes out somewhere in the middle.

We, as a species, have not even been able to prove or explain our own consciousness, so we surely cannot prove the existence of God, or lack thereof. Our experience of the world is limited by our 5 senses.

According to the big bang theory, at one point in time, or rather, before time began, all subatomic particles or strings that exist in the entire universe were crammed together into a space smaller than the period at the end of this sentence. I said ‘before time began’ because time is a function of gravity, space and movement. Thus it is reasonable to say that if all matter in the universe was in one small point, time as we know it would stop because of the immense gravity and lack of movement. Then something occurred to cause all of this to become unstable, and expand, and time started because movement started. Different pressures and temperatures cause the subatomic particles to bind in different ways, thus Hydrogen was formed, being the simplest atom, and on it went.

The logic is unquestionable. The explanation, on the other hand, is purely a matter of what you need to believe in order to proceed through your life. If you believe that God or some form of consciousness was directing it all, then that is what you need to believe. If you believe that everything can be explained in a purely scientific way, then that is what you need to believe. Again, the inherent truth is probably somewhere in the middle. One thing is for certain, though, and that is, we are all where we are supposed to be emotionally, physically, spiritually, right at this very moment. All explanations are correct if it resonates for you. And who is ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ does not matter.
