Where do Ufos come from

Where do UFOs come from?  Since 1947 when Kenneth Arnold first reported his sighting of flying disks over the Cascade Mountains in Washington, the mystery of these unidentified flying objects has intrigued the public. The 1950s were the flying saucer years when UFO groups formed and sightings were numerous. The US government opened up investigations, but none of them proved anything conclusive. Because of their behaviors-their maneuverability, ability to abruptly accelerate and decelerate, and to suddenly appear and disappear sometimes low in the sky and other times high in the sky, the idea of space ships visiting Earth from another world caught on.

There began to be accounts of close encounters with alien creatures.  They ran from humanoid to robot looking creatures.  As accounts of alien ships and beings proliferated, so did their variety.  There were finally so many different types of beings and ships described that the conclusion was that there were many visitors from other worlds.  Eventually, after no solid proof could be found, public and media interest waned and the stories about the space visitors subsided in the 90s.

From the scientifically plausible description of Arnold’s flying silver disks the saucer hysteria created hybrid creatures like the Greys and speculation that these entities could be coming from other dimensions, instead of outer space, because of the immense distances between Earth and the nearest stars, which, at the closest, are a light year away.  Some stars under consideration now are 4 to12 light years away, which would be possible to visit if half the speed of light could be achieved.  But those closest stars might not have life, although there are some that are being looked at as possibilities, although so far no planets have been seen circling them.

About seven years ago I had a very strange nighttime experience.  If you have ever watched the original Star Trek television series that William Shattner starred in, you will recall the ending when there would be a black background that was outer space and a field of tiny white stars.  Across the field of stars was the title of the show, Star Trek.  I had not seen that show for years.  In the middle of the night I woke up and was in the middle of a dream.  Impressed in my mind was a field of stars and blazoned across it in large red letters were the words, RED SUN.  It was so strong in my mind that even though I got up and walked around, I could still see it.  I went back to sleep and I immediately began seeing the same exact picture, like looking at the TV set and seeing the Star Trek show but with different words, Red Sun.  That picture was embedded in my brain like an image on an analog TV screen.  I woke up again, and walked into the kitchen to get a drink of water, the same image was there the entire time.  I went back to bed and immediately the same image of the field of stars and the words Red Sun came back again.  All night long I dreamed the same image.  In the morning it was light and time to arise for the day and there it was, the stars and Red Sun, remaining even though it was daylight and I was up and had walked into the kitchen.  It was the strongest visual impression I have ever had in my life.  I have never had an image like that come into my mind that persisted all night long into the day light.  I believe it was a clue transmitted  to me to help solve the puzzle of where the UFOs come from.

Because I have had a close encounter and have been interested in astronomy and unidentified flying objects most of my life, I took astronomy as my required science course in college.  The professor who taught the course had his Ph.D. and was the president of the local astronomy club.  I felt like telling him in an assignment I turned in that I had seen a UFO, but of course I did not describe it because I am so used to scientific types discounting it.  But I did say I thought the space people might come from an M star because they are red.  I was thinking about the night long red sun dream.  They are cool stars, red dwarfs, which may be the oldest stars in the universe because they burn so slowly.  I thought that would give an alien civilization a long time to develop, invent space travel, and arrive on the Earth.

I was happily surprised when my paper came back with the comment on it, “Not a M star, too cool for life to develop, more likely a G or K star.”  He did not make a sarcastic remark, he indicated he could believe that I had seen one and there is the possibility of life on other worlds.  Stars on the main sequence are the most likely to have planets that could have developed life, due mainly to the temperature and age of the star.  It has to be stable enough for long enough to have allowed any planets to form and evolve life.

Since then there have been planets found surrounding other stars, some gas giants, some rocky planets and recently one thought to be a water world. Some stars are too young or unstable such as variable stars; the blue and white giants have short lives and burn out or explode into novae.  Brown dwarfs never developed into either a sun or planet, red giants would have expanded and destroyed planets closely circling them, and the red dwarfs are too cool to have ever evolved life as we know it.  There are possibilities of extremophiles like we have on Earth, that live in volcanic vents or below the surface at the North Pole, scientists think that intelligent life would not be likely to evolve in a physical form that did not have enough capabilities as the human being does.

Astronomers are now looking at older, cooler yellow-orange G stars and orange-red K stars as the most likely to be “habstars.”  They have the right temperature to evolve life on planets in habitable zones and are stable enough.  Astrobiology Magazine, March 2006, reported that Margaret Turnbull, astronomer at the Carnegie Institute, recently announced a short list of possibilities.  Her top choice is a star only one-tenth the brightness of Earth, epsilon Indie A, nearly 12 light years away, in the constellation Indus.  Another one is Alpha Centauri B only 4.5 light years away in the constellation nearest to Earth, and part of a triple star system.

According to Einstein nothing can equal or exceed the speed of light. A space ship could not go the speed of light, because as it approached it, it would shorten and widen. But the Relativity Theory is complicated and not all of it has been able to be proven.  Besides the shortening and lengthening, there also is thought to be a slowing of time.   There may be other properties about space and time that our species has not discovered- something beyond Einstein.  And then there is the expectation in the future that human life will be considerably extended. Whatever it is, I am positive the other planetary beings are here.  They must have solved those relativity problems.
