The Worlds most Dangerous Animals

The world is filled with every type of animal species. Some are adorable (cute) while others are regarded as ugly and not worthy of keeping as pets.

Man has been able to domesticate some animals but there are others he has never been able due to their wilderness nature – aggressive. There are other animals man can never think twice of domesticating or being friends with apart from the fact he wants to get rid of suck kind of animals. I mean completely eliminate them from the face of earth.

Also, humans have different tastes, meaning what one man loves dearly and passionately the other loathes it with the same measure, dearly and passionately. Even though there are animals we love to be with as pets or to domesticate them, it amazes and astonishes us how cruel or aggressive they are.

Below is a list of the most common and not so common six deadliest animals in the world. Although we hear a lot of news and stories concerning these animals, we never take time to consider how dangerous or deadly they are. We revere them, are amazed and left in a state of wonder, but do you know they are the top planet’s most unexpectedly deadly creatures, no matter how much we adore or consider them cute? Of course, it is not all of them we consider cute.

1) Mosquito

A tiny animal, a mosquito is capable of killing millions of people in a given year.

This tiny animal is known to spread malaria. This happens when a non-infected mosquito, Anopheles, bites a person who is infected with malaria parasite, thereby ingesting the parasite found in the person’s blood. After a week or so when the parasite has grown in the mosquito, it is possible for the female mosquito to pass the infection (malaria parasite) to a non-infected person when it bites.

According World Health Organization (WHO), about 3.8 billion people are at risk with 250 million cases reported and nearly one million deaths occurring every year.

The WHO further states that in Africa where the problem is serious, one in every five (20%) childhood deaths is due to the effects of malaria; meaning a child dies of malaria every 30 seconds.

“The most dangerous creature in Africa is possibly the mosquito since it’s responsible for killing more Africans than any other through the spread of malaria, dengue and other diseases. Malaria kills over a million Africans every year, most of these are children under the age of five.”

2) Elephant

Regarded as the largest land living animal, an elephant is an animal that can literary kill a human within minutes if not seconds by trampling the victim to death.

Its huge size coupled by wide legs, an elephant is an animal that cannot be brought down by a lion known as the ‘King of Jungle.’ It will require more than two lions to defeat an adult elephant.

“The elephant is the largest land animal in the world and can easily crush anyone that stands in its way, which is why an enraged elephant is one of the most dangerous of all animals. Many of the deaths caused by elephants are attributed to younger male elephants who are wild and more aggressive, which raid small villages, particularly India and Sri Lanka during the night. Kills 500 humans per year.”

About.com notes concerning an African elephant, “It’s unlikely you’ll bump into an elephant outside of a protected wildlife reserve but when you encounter this 12,000lb beast, things can get potentially ugly. African elephant, especially older bulls and young males, can be aggressive even when they’re not provoked. Most deaths occur by the elephant trampling their victims to death.”

3) Hippopotamus

Hippo is another animal which if provoked or not, it will tend to be aggressive. Many times while on land, a hippo can become a real coward by running into water from a potential danger on land. However, this does not mean at all times. Most of the deaths have been reported on water since this is where it is good at tearing its victims to death using their big teeth.

“Although hippos look cute and friendly, they are definitely one animal you do not want to cross. Easily frightened and extremely aggressive, hippos will not hesitate to attack a human…”

“The hippo is responsible for more human fatalities in African than any other large animal. Male hippos actively defend their territories which run along the banks of rivers and lakes. Females have also been known to get extremely aggressive if they sense anyone coming in between their babies, who stay in the water while she feeds on the shore. Hippos can run at speeds of over 20 miles an hour and they have enormous jaws which host up to 20 inch canines.”

“Most human deaths occur when the unlucky victim finds himself between a startled hippo and the deep water. Females with young are especially dangerous.”

Crocodiles are found in major lakes and many rivers, the reason they pose danger to humans. This is especially the case when women collect water or wash clothes near river banks and lake shores. This is mostly common in African countries.

“Not only are crocodiles big, they are extremely fast and versatile, which enables them to catch and devour almost any prey they prefer. The most dangerous crocodiles are the Saltwater and Nile crocodiles, which are easily provoked and show no fear towards humans… Kills 2,000 humans per year.”

The teeth, razor-shaped means in the case of humans, it will prove fatal. Although most of the cases reported of the attacks of white shark on humans have proven not fatal, it is wise to avoid friendship with them.

“Great White shark encounters are rare but attacks are severe when they happen, and have led to fatalities…Great Whites attack by propelling themselves at their prey with great speed. They take a single bite and drag their victims down into deeper water. They then let go and the prey just bleeds itself to death before being boggled up.”

“Between wars and random murders, humans also are dangerous in other ways that extremely raise them to the most dangerous animals on the planet. Humans are the #1 cause for deaths in the world, they kill several million other humans a year at least twice as much as our #2 (mosquito) and more than our top 10 combined.”
