The Rb Effect a Viable Alternative to Tectonics

Is there a viable alternative to tectonics? Yes!


Three themes of discussion run jointly through this article: a.) The fallacy of the tenets of the current earth sciences (i.e., plate tectonics); b.) Nature’s laws (physics) as the basis of all science; and c.) The RB-Effect© as the primary force system (the dynamics) that drives earth’s processes.

Physics is the study of the natural laws that discovery has shown to apply to the workings of everything we know to exist: from earth processes to the everyday machine and the utility of the laws of optics, electromagnetics, heat transfer, etc. But students may recall the tests and problems at the end of the chapter that were steeped in math and abstract concepts that were impossible to avoid because of the instructions and the wording at the top of the page .. “Show all your work!”

But not all disciplines recognize the obligation to be forthright and “show their work,” as it’s conspicuously lacking in the studies of the “physics of the earth” (i.e., plate tectonics)! So it is that when verification of tectonic processes is sought, the failure to verify their work shows through as fallacious science and mis-interpretations!


a.) Conveyor belts of molten magma (according to tectonic theory) are said to drive the movement of continental and oceanic plates. But when we turn to physics books for the missing verification – we find that the processes as stated are impossible. It is instead, that materials (magmas by example) can do work (i.e., cause movement) only as they expand and subsequently turn molten as they are heated. Once formed, no amount of additional heat will cause further expansion. Hence, on reaching the molten state, magma can no longer engage in producing motion. It follows, thereon, that the statements made of this conveyor process by tectonics are false.

b.) Non-volcanic mountains (according to tectonic theory) are said to be formed by the collision of tectonic plates. Yet we find mountains in the interior of every continent on earth where no evidence of collision can be found. When we turn to physics books for scientific verification of the process – we find instead that mountain building by colliding masses is impossible. The physical principles that can be advanced in proof are well known and everywhere utilized in the proper design of vehicles, roads, and foundations the world over.

These principles that challenge collision tectonics relate to the elasticity of materials and how compression forces work. The work of compression forces (where stresses are dissipated to negligible values through an ever widening cone of influence derived from friction and shear) is in display everywhere foundations support structural form. That this compression cone guarantees the dissipation of compression forces is nowhere in dispute. It follows, thereon, that the statement made by tectonics that mountains are formed by a collision process is totally false!

It can be shown further that every tenet claimed by tectonics (subduction and sea floor spreading by example) have never been proven true. It is as E. de Martonne wrote to William Morris Davis over a hundred years ago:

Quote :: “Geography and Geology are descriptive and historic sciences, the study of which involves a large amount of hypothesis and supposition” (note 1).


The processes claimed to be in force by tectonic theory are so divergent from verifiable physical principle (i.e., natural law) – that it is more accurate to say they were contrived.

IV.) THE RB-Effect©

The RB-Effect is derived from the term Rotational-Bending, which is a well known and utilized concept from the metals industry (note 2). Rotational-Bending describes an object that is undergoing bending while it is in simultaneous rotational motion. Examples can be made of rotisserie spits bending under load while in simultaneous rotation. The resultant flexing creates internal stresses that are chased by the rotation from tension to compression and back again. Engine crankshafts undergo the same combination of bending while in rotation.

VI.) PRECEPTS and the RB-Effect©  

1.) The notion of the earth’s crust bending from orbital gravitational interaction, while in simultaneous rotation (Rotational-Bending) is the main feature of the RB-Effect© and explains the dynamics of geophysical change.

2.) Gravitational forces interact (not simply with the earth as a whole) but with all elements of the earth (collectively and individually).

3.) All elements of the earth that have a degree of freedom of motion due to fracture or circumstance – will exhibit independent inertial properties, movement, and flexing (note 3). It follows therefrom that the stresses in free moving crustal segments will change in magnitude and direction (tension/compression) due to earth’s ongoing rotation.

4.) Solar and lunar interaction is directional and acts along the plane of the ecliptic – and obliquely (~ 24.5 degrees) relative to earth’s equator and axis of rotation.

5.) Orbital forces are not tidal forces. Orbital forces act upon the entire mass of the earth in an overwhelming manner to change straight line motion to curvilinear.


The physical sciences (the study of the principles and mathematical verifications of Archimedes, Newton, Faraday, Charles, Boyles, Bernoulli and others) are undisputed as the mainstay of all engineering and scientific disciplines. But the field of geophysics (and its sub-field, tectonics) on the other hand, cannot be said to be scientific disciplines as their doctrine is cast around a philosophy that has not demanded proof.

The RB-Effect© on the other hand is based entirely on natural law; and all precepts are verifiable.

2.) Rotational Bending is a concept utilized in the metal’s trade (see The Metals Handbook®Desk Edition, Copyright©1985 by the American Society for Metals, Library of Congress Catalog Card Number: 84-71465 and later editions).

The concept of Rotational Bending can be applied to the dynamics of the earth as a physical property when earth is observed in solar orbit, and its elements are thus caused to undergo forces and bending while the earth is in simultaneous daily rotation,

Analysis (using cross sectional data of the earth from the plane of the ecliptic, in conjunction with the computer program, Mathematica) has shown that forces from the RB-Effect, acting on the crust are in excess of 30E21 pounds (ref. book by this author)

The corresponding bending moment within the crust is in excess of 55E27 ft lbs (ref. book by this author)
