T Rex Carnivorous Cretacious

Lions are considered to be the king of all beasts because of its strength. The tyrannosaurus rex is considered to be the king of all dinosaurs because they are the largest carnivore among the prehistoric animals. In order to understand why the tyrannosaurus rex was considered to be the fiercest among the dinosaurs you must see how they are biologically and physically. You must see how the fossils were discovered.

Tyrannosaurus rex came from the Greek words, “tyrannos,” meaning tyrant and “saurus,” meaning lizard. That’s why it’s called the “Tyrant Lizard King.” T-Rex as it is called in a short way is the fiercest predator of all time because of its physical attributes such as walking on two powerful legs. T-Rex lived in the Cretaceous period 85 million years ago.

It had a huge head, large pointed replaceable teeth and of course well developed muscles. It had tiny arms, each with two fingers. It had a bird-like feet with three large toes equipped with claws for better grip to the preys. Each foot had a little declaw, a tiny vestigial forth toe. The tail was pointed, slim and stiff for the purpose of balance and also allowing to do quick turns while it runs. It can grow 40 feet long and 15-20 feet or 4.6-6 meters tall. Its skin is scaly and bumpy like an alligator’s skin described as “lightly pebbled skin.” Its diet includes those plant eating dinosaurs.

The sense of sight of the T-Rex helps in locating preys. It had large visual lobes that process visual information. T-Rex had depth perception, which means that both eyes face forward on the front of its skull, while their preys do not have. These are the plant eating dinosaurs such as the Iguanodon, Protoceratops and others, but the top preys of the T-Rex were larger marginocephalians and ornithopods. The sense of smell had a very large area in the brain that process odors. The jaws are designed for bone crushing action. The conical teeth were most likely used to pierce and grip flesh. It can eat 500 pounds or 230 kilograms in one bite.

T-Rex can be found in humid, semi-tropical environment such as open forests with nearby rivers, and coastal forested swamps. It became extinct 65 million years ago in Cretaceous mass extinction. Fossils were found in Mongolia and Western North America. The most complete and largest fossil was found in South Dakota, United States.

It’s the trademark of the dinosaurs, still famous until now from T.V. shows and movies. That’s what makes it fierce.
