Learn about Stars Planets and other Astronomical Objects

An astronomy guide gives information about the stars, planets, the Sun and Moon and how to view them. A good astronomy course covers telescopes and how they work. Also, timelapsed photos from space show distinct colors not seen by the naked eye.

Maps

Most guides come with a sky map. These maps show where the constellations appear in the sky. They show how the sky looks during a particular season. Users need to know the four directions: north, south, east, and west.

Constellations

Beginners learn that start group are constellations, and they have names Like the Big Dipper and North Star. Astronomers know that the points of light are in the form of animals, objects, and people.

Life Cycle of stars

Beginners learn about the formation of stars from start to finish including nebulae, the birthplace of stars, and their death as Novae and black holes.

Sun and moon

The Sun and Moon are two objects that beginning astronomers study. To study the Sun requires special equipment. The only exception is during a solar eclipse when the moon blocks the rays of the Sun. The moon has craters, and it is easy to find. Astronomers can watch it phases of the moon and study it anytime there are clear skies.

Planets

Earth’s solar system has nine planets: Pluto, Mercury, Neptune, Earth, Mars, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, and Uranus.  Beginners learn that the planets, like the moon, have phases although they are much longer than Earth’s rotation. The earth is a planet and has phases that astronomers can see from space.

Rotation

All celestial bodies rotate, and because of it, they become less or more visible depending on their phase. It is the time it takes for the sun to circle the star or planet.

Planetariums

Planetariums are places where people can emulate the night sky during the day.

Telescopes

A telescope is a device that magnifies an area that a person views. People mistakenly think that looking through a telescope they will see pictures, like the ones seen in magazines. People should use telescopes only if they know the night skies. Colors do not show well in telescopes. Viewing the sky without any magnification device helps beginners learn what to look for when they are ready for telescopes or binoculars.

Astronomy is the wonderful world of stars and celestial bodies. The first things learned about in guides are the moon and then constellations. With a little studying, a person can learn how to identify some of the constellations very easily.
