Black Holes in Space

“What we’ve found is not normal, based on either observational studies or on computer simulations of the large-scale evolution of the Universe,” said associate professor Liliya Williams, University of Minnesota.

Recently the University of Minnesota astronomers were surprised to find an enormous black hole that dwarfs any current findings of similar holes, about 1,000 times the expected volume of a typical void. Based on findings from the NRAO VLA Sky Survey (NVSS), the project was visible to the entire sky through the Very Large Array (VLA) radio telescope. The process of discovery was linked through the absence of radio galaxies and their relatives, to a cold spot in the cosmic microwave background radiation. The cold spot is close to absolute zero, with certain areas in the void having a temperature in small temperature variations (parts in 100,000), approximately at an average temp of 2.7 above the absolute zero.

According to World Science and the University of Minnesota, this finding was located in the United States National Radio Astronomy Observatory’s Very Large Array Sky Survey, which was made by the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotopy Probe (WMAP) satellite. Associated with the National Science Foundation’s National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO), a remarkable drop in galaxy numbers has been noticed in the constellation Eridanus, southwest of Orion.

Eridanus has been labeled as the sixth largest of the largest 88 constellations, and one of Ptolemy’s 48 constellations. In its southern end is Achernar, the first magnitude star that is recognized as one of the flattest stars every known, with “a radius 50% larger at the equator than the poles”. Also recognized is that Achernar is extremely spinning faster than what is considered as normal. All of this together could be signs of what the latest find is all about.

News commentaries are labeling it as a freak of nature and scientists are labeling it as abnormal, but anything as big as a billion light-years across should be considered as anything BUT an ordinary freak of nature. Void of planets, stars, or dark matter, it warrants serious observation and research as it did not just “pop-up” overnight-but where has it been and how have we missed something so huge and so spectacular that we have?

We need to look at the fact that over the past several years, the latest developing technology in space has found numerous significant finds and facts about space that is continuously changing and challenging our previous scientific views about “what is-“. It is getting to the point that every “NEW” fact that comes out of NASA or any other space agency should only be looked at as a temporary stepping-stone to another development in space. Nothing more-and definitely nothing less.
