Home Remedy for Skin to Look Younger

Overview

As skin ages, it undergoes changes that affect its appearance. Although some of these changes are influenced by factors such as smoking and excessive exposure to sun—with heredity playing a role as well—the fact is that facial wrinkles, along with slackening and dulling of the skin, are an inevitable result of growing older. Fortunately, you can help roll back the clock. Using safe, ordinary household ingredients, you can create remedies to help your skin regain some of the supple, smooth look of youth.

Exfoliating Treatment

Step 1

Grind up a handful of unsalted almonds until you have 2 level teaspoons. Stir ground almonds into 1/4 cup of honey.

Step 2

Massage the mixture onto your face and neck with your fingertips, using a circular motion. The mildly abrasive action of this treatment will help exfoliate the uppermost layer of dead cells, exposing the finer, more translucent skin tissue underneath.

Step 3

Remove the treatment with cool water and a washcloth, scrubbing gently, then splash with cool water until the mixture is completely removed.

Step 4

Pat your face and neck dry, then apply a quality moisturizing lotion.

Egg White Skin Tightener

Step 1

Break an egg and separate the yolk and the white. Beat the egg white with a fork or whisk until it is frothy and stiff.

Step 2

Immediately apply the beaten egg white with a dry washcloth along your cheekbones and around your inner and outer eye area. Leave on for 10 minutes. The tightening effect of the egg white will help reduce the appearance of fine lines around your eyes.

Step 3

Use cold water on a cotton ball to remove the egg white.

Green Tea Puffiness Reducer

Step 1

Steep 2 green tea bags in hot water for five minutes, then remove them and let them cool until they are lukewarm.

Step 2

Put a tea bag over each eye, then cover with a washcloth. According to the Smart Skin Care website, the polyphenols in green tea have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects and are likely to slow the development of some signs of aging.

Step 3

Keep the tea bags over your eyes for 15 minutes.

Moisturizing Mask

Step 1

Combine 2 tbsp. plain yogurt with 1 tbsp. honey and 1 tsp. of juice from a fresh cucumber. Stir well.

Step 2

Chill the mixture in the refrigerator until it has stiffened—usually about half an hour.

Step 3

Apply to your face and neck, and leave on for 15 minutes.

Step 4

Rinse the mask off with cool—never hot—water. Pat dry, then finish with a moisturizer.

Step 5

Repeat the treatment every three or four days to keep your skin looking moist and supple.
