How to Treat Acne Scars Naturally

Overview

Acne is a skin condition caused by an excess production of oil and is characterized by pustules on the surface of your skin. These pustules can rupture into open sores, which may produce scars if they don’t heal properly. You can treat acne scars naturally with common household materials. The goal of these treatments is to minimize the appearance of acne scars by reducing discoloration and making the scar tissue softer.

Step 1

Dilute the juice of one lemon with a cup of water. Apply the mixture to your acne scar with a washcloth. Hold the washcloth to your scar for a few minutes every day. The citric acid in the lemon juice can remove some of the pigment from your skin when you use this treatment over a prolonged period.

Step 2

Spread a very thin layer of honey over your acne scar and allow it to dry. Remove the honey with a gentle soap and warm water, and pat your skin dry with a soft towel. This treatment removes dead skin cells on the surface of your skin, which can improve the appearance of an acne scar.

Step 3

Rub olive oil gently into your acne scar. This treatment can moisturize your skin and soften a hard acne scar. Olive oil is relatively inexpensive and has little risk of side effects, so you can use it freely and often throughout the day.

Step 4

Apply vitamin E oil to your acne scar. Break open a capsule of vitamin E and rub the oil into the scar once a day. Vitamin E can help your skin repair scar tissue more quickly.

Step 5

Dab rosehip seed oil on an acne scar to soften it. Apply a few drops of rosehip seed oil to the acne scar with your fingertip and rub it in gently. Rosehip seed oil is relatively expensive, so you may wish to limit this treatment to twice a day.
