Eye Skin Procedures

As you grow older, your skin naturally loses elasticity and begins to sag; the skin around your eyes is no exception. The skin of your eyebrows to the skin below your eyes can droop, resulting in puffiness, dark circles and bags. Crow’s feet and fine wrinkles are other common eye skin problems. The skin around the eyes is especially delicate, so choosing the right treatment is important.

Eyes by Thermage

Thermage is a nonsurgical procedure with no downtime afterwards. Thermage eye treatments are used to create tighter, smoother overall skin; reduce hooding; tighten the brow; tighten contours around the eyes; reduce under-eye bags; and soften fine lines and crow’s feet. Thermage treats the skin using radio-frequency to heat the dermis–the sub-layer of skin–while cooling the epidermis–the top layer of skin–to prevent damaging it. The heating of the dermis results in the production of collagen, which is a natural substance produced by the body that revives the skin’s elasticity and overall health. Many patients respond quickly to the treatment, but measurable tightening will gradually appear over two to six months as the collagen is produced and helps shape the skin.

Laser Skin Resurfacing

Under-eye circles can be treated with laser skin resurfacing; this method can usually achieve results with one treatment. In addition to treating dark under-eye circles, it can also reduce wrinkles, treat age- and sun-damaged skin, tighten skin, improve skin tone and encourage the skin to produce collagen. The laser is moved over the skin emitting pulses to gently remove a layer at a time and promote collagen production. The surgical procedure requires one week of downtime, and comes with risks such as infection of the treated area.

Eyelid Lift

An eyelid lift is a surgical procedure for treating sagging skin around the eyes, both on the upper and lower eyelids. An eyelid lift works by surgically removing excess skin and fat around the eyes to provide a rested, youthful appearance to the eyes. An eyelid lift is often done in conjunction with other treatments, such as a brow lift to reduce sagging brows and laser skin resurfacing.
