Ways to Get Bigger Breasts

Healthy breasts come in a variety of sizes; however, due to social pressures or internal insecurities, some women with smaller breasts can feel less feminine and suffer from low self esteem. Women are inundated with advertisements offering solutions to the “problem” of smaller breasts but many of these solutions have no scientific evidence to support their validity. It’s very important for a woman seeking bigger breasts to research all of the available options to make an educated decision on which option is the best choice.

Exercise

Breasts are composed mostly of fatty tissue and milk ducts. Due to this, there are no exercises that can actually increase the size of your breasts. However, there are exercises which can strengthen the muscle that lies below your breasts. Strengthening these muscles can help your breasts to appear larger because the toned muscles will hold your breasts up higher. Exercises that can help to increase your pectoral muscle tone include push-ups, bench presses and butterfly dumbbell lifts.

Herbal Creams And Supplements

Herbs that include fennel, saw palmetto, wild yam and black cohosh have been traditionally used in folk medicine to address female problems, such as symptoms of menopause and low milk production. Theoretically these herbs are thought to contain phytoestrogens (or plant estrogens), which are believed to be capable of simulating estrogen in the female body. Herbal creams and supplements containing these herbs are supposed to correct hormonal imbalances in the body which theoretically are the cause of underdeveloped breasts. Very little scientific evidence exists to support these claims, however.

Breast Enhancement Pumps

Breast enhancement pumps work similar to a breast pump and are supposed to induce permanent breast growth through the concept of tension-induced growth. This means the gentle suction–created manually or through a battery pack–is supposed to stimulate the growth of new breast tissue through gentle expansion. Some devices claim to be Federal Drug Administration-approved, but the FDA has only given approval to one device allowing it to be marketed as an unregulated device. This means the FDA did not require a double-blind, controlled trial for this product before allowing it to be sold.

Breast Augmentation Surgery

The most common and proven method of increasing breast size is through surgical augmentation. Women desiring bigger breasts can elect to have surgery performed by a trained plastic surgeon. The breast augmentation surgery is often done on an outpatient basis, which means the patient goes home for recovery the same day as the surgery. After the patient is sedated with anesthesia, the surgeon will make an incision either under the breast, around the nipples, through the belly button, or around the arm pit and use surgical tools to position a saline or silicone implant in the breasts. Healing from breast augmentation surgery can take several months and some women experience complications that can range from hardening of the implant to rupturing. Breast implants are also not expected to last a woman’s full lifetime, and may require additional surgery to replace one or both implants.
