Home Remedies for Curing Acne

Acne is not only inconvenient, it is embarrassing. It can also be expensive to treat. If you struggle with skin problems, you are probably tired of spending time and money on harsh over-the-counter (OTC) products that do not work. Before you spend another dime on treating your acne, check your cupboards and make a few homemade skin remedies.

Egg Whites

Egg whites not only clear red spots, but they also tighten and firm the skin as well. To use this remedy, mix up one or two egg whites in a bowl until they become frothy. Wash your face with a mild soap, and then apply the egg whites directly to your skin. Leave this on for 20 minutes or until it dries. Rinse it off with warm water.

Lemon Juice

The citric acid in lemon juice is good for you both, inside and out. When consumed, such as when mixed with ice water, lemon juice is thought to help cleanse toxins from the body. Additionally, applying lemon juice topically is an effective remedy for acne as well because it cleans out the pores and fights bacteria. Soak up a small amount of lemon juice with a cotton ball and apply to your face after each washing for the best results.

Honey

Honey is effective at treating acne because it fights bacteria and pulls dirt from the pores with its sticky texture. Try to find honey that has not undergone much processing, such as organic honey. This will ensure that the antimicrobial properties of the honey have been preserved. Simply apply a layer of honey over your face after washing as you would with any other facial mask. Let it set on your skin for 10 to 15 minutes, and then rinse. Reapply once daily or as often as desired. Honey tends to melt and drip when it is exposed to the skin’s temperature for any length of time, so drape a towel around your shoulders to catch any drippings.
