Homemade Olive Oil Hair Conditioner

Overview

Olive oil isn’t just for cooking anymore. In fact, just as olive oil is beneficial to the inside of your body, it can also be beneficial when applied to the outside of your body, such as when it is used on the hair and skin. Olive oil is an effective hair conditioner and, according to the Olive Oil Source, when olive oil is used on hair, it performs two functions—deep conditioning and dandruff control. Using olive oil as a conditioner is almost as basic as rubbing it in.

Step 1

Shampoo hair as you normally do, but do not put on a conditioner.

Step 2

Put 1/2 cup of olive oil into a glass bowl.

Step 3

Add 1/2 cup of warm water.

Step 4

Massage the olive oil conditioner into the scalp first, using your fingertips.

Step 5

Massage the olive oil conditioner into the hair shaft once the scalp has been covered, paying special attention to the ends of the hair.

Step 6

Put your hair up and cover it with a plastic shower cap or plastic bag. Leave the olive oil conditioner on your hair for 10 minutes.

Step 7

Rinse out the conditioner thoroughly with warm water. It may take you a bit longer to rinse than it does with a standard conditioner.
