Energy Star boasts that through use of products with the Energy Star logo, people prevented the release of pollutants into the air of the equivalent of 30 million cars. Energy Star reports that when compared to conventional minimum standards, solar powered water heating systems coupled with electric power grid backup can provide an energy savings of 70% to 90%. Furnaces
Energy Star rated furnaces have a 15% higher efficiency rating than standard furnaces. Gas Furnaces with the Energy Star symbol of approval have a rating of 90% AFUE or greater, and oil furnaces have a rating of 85% AFUE or greater. Heat Pumps
