Captive Bead Ring
Captive bead rings, also called captive ball rings or CBR, are a type of ring you can wear in your nose or other pierced areas of your body. A captive bead ring is a metal ring in which the two ends connect to a ball or bead. The bead, which has indentations on each side where the ends of the ring fit, completes the shape of the ring. The bead or ball may be made from glass, metal, acrylic or gemstone. The tension of the metal ring as it presses against the side of the bead holds the jewelry in place.
Hoop Nose Ring
A hoop is a type of nose ring that most often fits through a nostril piercing. One end of the hoop is open and the other end has a flat disc. The open end fits through the piercing from the inside to the outside of your nose. The hoop is then twisted until the flat disc end rests against the inside of your nasal wall or septum.
Nostril Screw
A nostril screw is a type of nose ring that fits into the piercing on the left or right nostril. The only part of the nostril screw that can be seen after it is inserted in your nostril is the metal or gemstone stud end, which can be shaped like a ball, star or other desired design. The shaft of the nostril screw from the end stud is partially twisted into a C-shaped curve that fits inside your nostril. Pre-shaped nostril screws have C curves that are twisted to the left or to the right, depending on which side of your nose is pierced. You also have the option of having a nostril screw custom bent to fit comfortably inside your nose.
Horseshoe
Also called the circular barbell, the horseshoe is a type of nose ring that you can wear through a septum piercing. The septum is the section of cartilage between each of the two nostrils in your nasal passage.
