Simply Sleep Ingredients

Sleep is an important component of a healthy lifestyle because it allows the body to restore lost energy and helps with stress management. According to the Better Sleep Council, 32 percent of Americans have a restless sleep at least one night each week. Simply Sleep is a non-habit forming sleep aid manufactured by Tylenol. It is marketed to provide relief from occasional sleeplessness.

Active Ingredient

Diphenhydramine hydrochloride is the active ingredient in Simply Sleep. The drug is a white, odorless antihistamine powder that dissolves easily in water and alcohol. It is utilized for its sedative properties and generally lasts for a duration of four to six hours, being completely excreted from the body after 24 hours. There are 25 mg of diphenhydramine HCl in each Simply Sleep caplet.

Inactive Ingredients

There are a number of inactive ingredients in Simply Sleep that are also important. These include carnauba wax, cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, dibasic calcium phosphate, FD&C Blue #1, hypromellose, magnesium stearate, polyethylene glycol, polysorbate 80 and titanium dioxide. These ingredients are included in Simply Sleep to add integrity, color and cohesiveness to the tablet. The inactive ingredients also regulate the rate of drug dissolution in the body to ensure that the tablet is broken down and absorbed at the correct part of the intestinal system.

Other Components

Each capsule of Simply Sleep contains 20 mg of calcium. The calcium content comes from the dibasic calcium phosphate mentioned in the inactive ingredients list. Calcium is an important part of a healthy diet and is beneficial to the maintenance of the body’s bones, heart and muscles.
