1. Increase Your Vitamin Intake
Some studies have shown that asthmatics are prone to specific vitamin deficiencies that may contribute to their conditions. Making sure that you take in plenty of vitamins that promote respiratory health can improve your symptoms dramatically.
Get ample amounts of vitamins B6 and B12 and lots of vitamin C, selenium, manganese and magnesium. These nutrients all contribute to reduced lung inflammation, as does the enzyme known as glutathione peroxidase, which you can purchase at in supplement form at a health food store. While vitamins alone won’t cure your asthma, they do help you manage symptoms and offer a natural alternative to corticosteroids that is particularly useful if you have a mild case.
2. Stay Hydrated
One thing that contributes to your asthma is fluid and mucus buildups in your lungs. You can prevent these from impeding your breathing by making sure that you drink 8 to 12 glasses of water every day, apart from the beverages you consume at meals. Drinking water on an empty stomach ensures that more hydration reaches your system, which will thin out fluids and mucus and help keep your lungs free of obstruction.

You can do a lot with your diet to help cure your asthma symptoms. Introduce extra essential fatty acids, like flax seed oil and omega-3, and more foods that promote natural healing like whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables and nuts. You can also naturally manage your body’s production of inflammation-causing enzymes by eating foods which contain quercetin and mustard oils. Garlic and onions are the two handiest examples.
4. Avoid Asthma-Triggering Foods
Processed foods, meat, additives, preservatives and dairy foods have all been linked to asthma complications. In varying degrees, they facilitate the buildup of toxins in your body and encourage the production of thicker mucus. Eliminating these foods from your diet while increasing your intake of healthy foods is a good way to keep your symptoms in check.
