The advent of digital technology is revolutionizing how people find and use information, and in that way it is also changing how the library serves its community.
While libraries have traditionally been early adopters of new information technology, library advocates have been relatively slow to follow suit. That is now changing, as the advocacy toolkit incorporates new aids such as listservs, professional blogs and online forums. These are being used to support external communications, fundraising, political outreach and community engagement.
As technology-based advocacy becomes more sophisticated, and as the current teen generation becomes more involved in advocacy, these uses will become more and more varied.
